To install Ms. Office 365 or Office 2016 on a PC…

Step 1: Sign in to download Ms. Office

  • On website www.office.com/setup , sign in. And If you are not signed in with the Office account, then click on Sign in and create your account with Ms. Office.

    Note: In case, if you have bought Ms. Office for personal use through your company’s Microsoft HUP benefit, then, you won’t be able to sign in here in order to install Microsoft Office 365 or Microsoft Office 2016. In fact, find installation help for the same from Install Office through HUP.

  • Now sign in with the account which is registered with the MS. Office 365 or Microsoft Office 2016 version. The registered account can be either Microsoft Account, or work, or school account.

  • On the Office home page, for the Office Setup follow the following steps: 
    • If you have signed in with your Ms. Office Account, then, from the Home Page of the Office. All you need to do is to select Install Office> Install. (Office 365 Subscribers should Select Install again).
    • Tip: If you want to install Ms. Office 365 or Ms. Office 2016 in the different language, then, install the 64-bit version on your PC. Then, select the link Language, 32/64-bit, and other install options. Now choose the language and bit version and select Install.
    • Now, if you are signing in with your work or student account, then, from the Office 365 Homepage, you have to select Install Office apps> Office 2016.
    • Tip: If you wish to install Office in a different language or want to install 64-bit version on your PC, then, on the Office 365 Home Page, You need to select Install Office Apps> Other Install Options> Advanced. Here select the language and bit version you want and then click on install.

Following the above steps will help you to download Office. Once the Ms. Office File is downloaded, all you need to do is to click on all the positive options of the prompts appearing on the screen in order to complete the installation process.

Step 2: Install Office 365 or Office 2016

  • Depending upon your browser, click..
    • Run (in Edge or Internet Explorer)
    • Setup (in Chrome)
    • Or Save File (in Firefox)

    You might get a prompt window of a User Account Control, asking, “Do you want to allow this app to make changes in your Device?,” Click YES.

    Shortly, an installation window will appear and installation will begin…

  • Once the installation is finished, you will see the phrase, stating, “You’re all set! Office is installed now.” And you will see an animation video telling you on how and where to find Office Applications on your computer.

You can now follow the instructions by clicking on Click Start> All Apps, find your app and select Close.

Step 3: Activate Office

  • Now you can start Office 365 by opening any of the Office Application such as Ms. Word or Excel.

    Almost in all of the applications, Ms. Office generally gets activated when you start the application and then click on Accept where you agree on the license terms of the Microsoft

  • In some cases, Ms. Office might activate automatically, depending on the type of the product you are using. You might see an Office Activation window wizard appear, Then, follow all the positive options on the prompts to activate the product.

To install Ms. Office 365 or Office 2016 on a MAC…

Step 1: Sign and Install Office

  • On the webpage www.office.com/setup , if you have already signed in then sign in directly with the registered account with the product purchased. Or select Sign In and fill information to get registered first with Microsoft.

    Now when you have signed in with the registered account which is associated with the version of Ms. Office 365 or Office 2016, whichever, you have purchased. Then, on the Office home page do the following depending on the version of your purchase.

    • So, if you have signed in with your Microsoft Account, then, all you need to do is to Select Install Office> Install.
    • If you are logged in with your work or school account, then, all you have to do is to Select Install Office Apps> Office 2016.
  • If you are logged in with your work or school account, then, all you have to do is to Select Install Office Apps> Office 2016.

Step 2: Install Office

  • Open Finder on the screen, when you are done with the download. Now go to Downloads, and Double-Click on File named as Microsoft_Office_2016_Installer.pkg (**The name may vary slightly**).

    Tip: If in case you are getting an error message, stating that, the Microsoft_Office_2016_Installer.pkg can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer, then, wait for 10 seconds and try double-clicking the installer package again. If you are stuck somewhere at the Verifying… progress bar, then, either close or cancel the progress bar or try again.

  • You will now see an installation window, select Continue, in order to begin the installation process.

  • Give a quick review to the license agreement and then click continue to accept.
  • Now Click on Agree to agree on all the terms and conditions of the software license agreement.
  • Now choose how you want to install Office 365 or Office 2016 and click on Continue to start Office Setup.
  • Quickly review back the disk space requirements and change the location if necessary. And then click on Install.
  • If you Mac User Account prompt up, enter your MAC Password and then click on Install Software.
  • You will see your Ms. Office installation will start to begin. Once the installation is finished, click on Close.

Step 3: Launch an Office for MAC App and start the Activation process

  • To Launch Office 365 or Office 2016 product, all you need to do is to click the Launchpad icon in the dock to display all the apps.
  • Now select Ms. Word app in the Launchpad.
  • Once the Ms. Word Window is being launched, the What’s New Window will open up automatically. Now in order to start to activate your program, all you need to do is to click on Get Started.
